Space transformations
Overview
Important
A space transformation is a rule or function that takes every point in 3D space and moves it to another point, possibly changing the shape, size, or position of objects. Common types include translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations (scaling).
Important properties
-
Some transformations preserve distances and angles (isometries), like translations and rotations.
-
Some transformations change size but keep shapes similar (similarities), like scaling.
-
Transformations can be combined to form new transformations.
-
Transformations can be reversible (invertible) or not.
