Regular polyhedra

Overview
Important

A regular polyhedron is a convex solid in three dimensions where all faces are congruent regular polygons, and the same number of faces meet at each vertex. There are exactly five such solids, called the Platonic solids.

Important properties

  • All faces are congruent regular polygons.

  • The same number of faces meet at each vertex.

  • There are only five regular polyhedra: tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron.

  • Each regular polyhedron is highly symmetrical.
