Rectangular prism

A rectangular prism is a prism whose bases are rectangles. It is a polyhedron with 6 rectangular faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices. The three dimensions (length $l$, width $w$, and height $h$) determine its size.

Important properties

• All angles between adjacent faces are right angles (90°).

• Opposite faces are congruent rectangles.

• Volume: $V = lwh$

• Surface area: $S = 2(lw + lh + wh)$

• A cube is a special case where $l = w = h$.
