Overview
Important

A trapezium is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. The parallel sides are called the bases (aa and bb), and the non-parallel sides are called the legs. The distance between the bases is called the height (hh). The area of a trapezium can be calculated using the formula: Area=12(a+b)×h\text{Area} = \frac{1}{2} (a + b) \times h

Important properties

  • Exactly one pair of sides is parallel (the bases).

  • The sum of the interior angles is 360360^\circ (like all quadrilaterals).

  • The area formula: 12(a+b)×h\frac{1}{2} (a + b) \times h.

  • If the legs are equal, the trapezium is called isosceles.
