Trapeziums
Overview
Important
A trapezium is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. The parallel sides are called the bases ( and ), and the non-parallel sides are called the legs. The distance between the bases is called the height (). The area of a trapezium can be calculated using the formula:
Important properties
-
Exactly one pair of sides is parallel (the bases).
-
The sum of the interior angles is (like all quadrilaterals).
-
The area formula: .
-
If the legs are equal, the trapezium is called isosceles.
