Convex polygons
Overview
Important
A polygon is convex if, for every pair of points inside the polygon, the segment connecting them lies entirely inside the polygon. Equivalently, all interior angles are less than 180 degrees, and the polygon does not 'cave in' at any vertex.
Important properties
-
The line segment between any two points inside a convex polygon stays inside the polygon.
-
All interior angles are less than 180 degrees.
-
A convex polygon cannot have any 'indentations' or inward-pointing vertices.
-
The intersection of two convex polygons is also convex.
