Constructs

Overview
Important

Geometric constructions are procedures to create geometric objects using only a compass and straightedge, without measuring lengths or angles directly. The goal is to achieve exactness through logical steps.

Important properties

  • Only compass and straightedge are allowed (no measurements).

  • Constructions are reproducible and follow logical sequences.

  • Many classical problems involve constructing figures with given properties (e.g., triangle with given sides, bisecting angles, drawing tangents).

  • Some constructions are impossible (e.g., trisecting an arbitrary angle, squaring the circle).
