Area (other)

Overview
Important

The area of a plane figure is the measure of the region it covers. For many shapes beyond rectangles and triangles, we use specific formulas derived from their properties.

Important properties

  • Parallelogram: Area = base × height

  • Trapezoid: Area = (base₁ + base₂) × height ÷ 2

  • Rhombus: Area = (diagonal₁ × diagonal₂) ÷ 2

  • Circle: Area = π × radius²

  • Regular polygon (with n sides of length a): Area = (n × a²) ÷ (4 × tan(π/n))
