Systems of algebraic inequalities
Overview
Important
A system of algebraic inequalities consists of several inequalities involving the same variables. The solution set is the intersection of the solution sets of each individual inequality.
Important properties
-
The solution to the system is the set of all values that satisfy every inequality in the system.
-
For one variable, the solution is often an interval or a union of intervals.
-
For two variables, the solution is a region in the coordinate plane, often found by graphing each inequality and finding where the shaded regions overlap.
