Odd Positions for Denominators p+q

All fractions with denominators $p$, $q$, and $p+q$ (where $p$ and $q$ are coprime; the fractions are not necessarily in lowest terms) are arranged in increasing order. Prove that all denominators in odd-numbered positions are equal to $p+q$.
