Sum of numbers on a circle

At the endpoints of a diameter of a circle are written $1$ and $1$. At each step, every arc between adjacent marked points is bisected, and at the midpoint we write the sum of the numbers at the endpoints of that arc. This is repeated for $n$ steps. Find the sum of all numbers written after $n$ steps (including the original two $1$'s).
